Hi all,
My name is Surbhi J. and I currently work at an school in Hillingdon as a maths teacher and KS3 coordinator.
My experience in teaching helps me identify the learning gaps and I generally address them in the very beginning in order to support students in their learning journey. Students do feel confident about their mathematical skills after a couple of lessons. My lessons are students centric and I tend to clear all their misconceptions so they have deeper understanding.
I love teaching Maths. I always try to tailor my lessons in a way which caters all the needs of the students. I have a strong record of students whose grades have immensely improved after taking my lessons.
I provide online lessons as well to students age between 11-16 years. My online lessons are well planned so that students feel supported at all times.
All my lessons are in general 60minute long which include detailed explaination with a mix of independent practice as well as solving exam style questions.
I generally take one to one tuitions as all students have different needs and giving them time individually can help them in improving their skills and eventually improved grades in GCSEs.
Teaching Experience:
I have 12 years of teaching experience. I have taught in various capacities which include 1-2-1, group sessions and contracting for local high schools. I teach both in-person and online.
I ran a tuition centre for more than 5 years before I was forced to close it because of the pandemic.
Currently, I teach students 1-2-1 online and in-person. I also recently ran group sessions as part of a High School’s Intervention programme, where I taught A Level Maths.
My students come from all different backgrounds and attend a variety of schools from State, Grammar, Independent and Private.

I have also taken specialised online tutor courses recognised by Ofqual.
I have a fully enhanced DBS certificate and I am on the DBS update service.

I'm now in my fifth year as a newly qualified primary school teacher at the Ridgeway Primary school in Whitely, Reading. I usually teach for around an hour typically to primary school age but I am looking to teach some older years as well. I like to keep the lesson interactive not focusing on the same exercise for too long. I find primary school-age children struggle to focus on the same thing for a long time. However, what I like about tutoring one-to-one or in small groups is that it gives you a lot of space to be flexible depending on who I am teaching.
