I started tutoring alongside my studies in 2006. I've always found immense satisfaction in those lightbulb moments when someone struggling with a concept finally gets it. Science and especially chemistry is full of abstract ideas and often young people need that extra support from someone who can break it down to just the right level or explain in a way that it makes sense to them. I have a strong grasp on the curriculum and I adapt my teaching according to the needs of the pupils to ensure progress.

I always helped my peers when I was your age and I have also been tutoring GCSE Maths and science in a college for 3 years, during which I have gained valuable experience in the teaching field. My goal is to build a strong rapport with each of my students and develop personalized teaching methods to suit their individual learning styles. Having recently completed college, I have up-to-date knowledge of exam board techniques, which I aim to pass on to my students to help them succeed.
Additionally, I emphasize the importance of building confidence alongside academic skills. By creating a supportive and encouraging learning environment, I help students overcome their fears and anxieties related to maths and science. I believe that with the right guidance and practice, every student has the potential to excel.

I firmly believe in the power of building a strong relationship and rapport with my students. This connection allows me to deliver personalised teaching just for YOU, exploiting your strengths and developing your areas of improvement. Whether it be worked examples, exam practice or just going through a topic in depth, there will be that one moment when it just clicks perfectly.
With a solid and vast background in STEM, I possess many tips and tricks to ensure learning is efficient and successful. The lessons, typically an hour long, are aimed at students in KS3 & GCSE, who want to develop that growth mindset in all they do and use their mistakes as stairs to greatness.
I achieved 9s in all sciences at GCSE level, as well as A*s in biology and psychology, and an A in Chemistry A level. I have experience teaching children, having worked for 3 years teaching theatre at Stagecoach.

I am a fully qualified science teacher (first class degree, PGCE, QTS and DBS check). I teach at an 11-18 school with 8 years experience as a private tutor, with my speciality being in Chemistry. I have taught the full range of levels and abilities with experience of a variety of exam boards (AQA, OCR and Edexcel). My students have always provided me with positive feedback and achieved at least their desired target grades.
I have experience in industry and use those skills and technquies to link the courses to real life uses as I believe that knowing how areas of the course are used in life gives a better connection and undertsanding of the content. I make and provide my own resources for the content that I am teaching and use as many exam style questions as possible. These are used to help improve the student's understanding of what is expected and not to fear a question that they may feel that they 'don't understand' but the skills and confident to attempt questions. To also continually assess the student's understanding, I carry out end of topic assessments with them to see how they are truly progessing in the given topic. Following from this, all assessments are then discussed between the student and I to comment on any errors made and how these can be improved upon.
Each child is different and will understand things in their own time in a way that best suits them, I am here to provide support to students and I am willing to work with them to find a learning method that suits them to make the best progress.

I have just come to end of a 5 month long stint in an undergraduate research lab at the University of Sheffield where my work focused on understanding protein structure-function relationships so I have experience applying theoretical biochemical concepts to practical scenarios. I have recently been accepted onto a PhD in Chemistry at the University of Leicester.
