Raising the academic attainment of students has been a deep passion and successful achievement - as a former Founding Principal of a school for 4- 16-year-olds, a current practising English teacher, and a tutor. I am currently teaching English on a full-time basis and therefore have up-to-date knowledge in English Language and Literature. I have significant experience teaching remotely. In addition, I have extensive experience in marking GCSE English Language and literature papers. Over ten years, 98% of my tutees have entered elite grammar schools (a few students have gained scholarships each year, too). During the last two years, 97% of my English Language tutees have achieved levels 7-9 in GCSE English Language and 96% levels 7-9 in GCSE English Literature.
I am well-resourced in teaching face-to-face or online. An initial consultation with parents and tutee, possibly a view of the school reports, will enable me to gather necessary information about your child. Importantly, the tutorials enable me to obtain first-hand knowledge of your child, enabling me to plan my lessons for the individual.

Having chosen my lessons any student can be sure that they will be provided with the necessary materials and sheets, that we will find the convenient time throughout the week and that the lesson will be fun, useful and clear. Speech practice is what is normally the accent is made on, as I stick to the communicative approach but if the student's goal is, for example, on the contrary, to boost writing or listening skills, this is exactly what we will do until the result is perfect. As a poet and creative writer, I use my skills to support my students' engagement in literacy, improve their reading and writing and find their enjoyment and self-expression in English. I also hold a first class degree in Psychology with Cognitive Neuroscience and am very happy to work with Psychology students to develop essay writing, psychological theory and statistics/research skills.
