Hi, my name is Dee I am a mum to 3, grown up, successful children and to 2 beautiful grandsons. I have been a teacher since 1992 and have seen so many changes to the education system in my time of work.
I have taught all primary age groups as well as pre-school, and am currently a part-time teacher of a KS1 class, both year 1 and year 2 together.
I have a great deal of experience of working with children with additional learning needs and have loved being a private tutor to both primary and KS3 pupils, specialising in English and Maths, in my home, pre covid.
I really enjoy supporting children one to one and believe that sometimes, out of the classroom learning as well as non-parent learning, is a MUST for many young people.
I have seen all of my school and private pupils, achieve a high standard and look forward to being able to work alongside your children, to see the same again.

I'm a current college student, working in my second year now at college with exams coming up around Spring/Summer time. I'm taking English Language and Literature, Sociology and Business, achieving A and B level grades across all subjects. I'm very much confident in my English abilities,and always have been since I was younger, achieving top grades for my creative and analytical work. Previously, I did run an internal study group for my class in English at secondary - everybody I ended up tutoring graduated secondary school with 8's and 9's in English (equivalent to B's and A's). I am also very much a creative person, doing drawing and art in my free time, and therefore also understand the importance of taking a break. Sessions I teach will not be completely intensive, as I find students learn best when given some freedom.
As an aspiring English tutor, I'd hope to employ a unique teaching methodology that harnesses enthusiasm, and a laid-back approach to ensure that students not only learn, but also enjoy the process. I know I used to be quite rewards-motivated personally, and would use this with those I'm tutoring. My lessons would typically last between one to two hours, though I'm flexible depending on the student's and guardians' needs and preferences. With a solid academic background in English Language and Literature, I've consistently achieved As and Bs and graduated secondary school with a 9.
I have been tutoring English for nearly two years at all age groups from Ks2 all the way up to A-level.
I offer hour long sessions where I can offer sessions which are tailored to the needs of your child, wether this being short and engaging activities or exam preparation activities for a child who is preparing for their exams. After each session I complete a fully detailed report of our session detailing what went well, where we can improve and what we aim to cover in the upcoming sessions!
I take a pupil first approach and try centre learning around the child’s needs and Interests as I believe this is the best way for engagement!
I am a friendly and approachable tutor who is encouraging and is very adaptable to differing levels of knowledge and skill. I believe this helps me greatly in getting to know the students needs and making best use of the time we have together!
I also tutor physical education at gcse and Alevel where I am particularly knowledgeable as I have recently completed a degree in sports and exercise sciences at Durham.
I have also had experience working with SEN students where I have worked with ADHD and dyslexia and have some excellent resources which suit the differing needs of different individuals.

I haven’t always been an exam and book person but with the right teaching i found my own way. I would have to get to know my student to see what style of work is most effective for them as everyone works differently.
