I am an experienced Primary School teacher with 8 years of experience teaching children aged 3-11. I live in the Durham area and currently teach in Gateshead. I have experience of year 2 and 6 SATs prepration. I cover a range of primary subjects including Mathematics, English and Phonics.
I also have experience carrying out 1:1 interventions with children who have additional needs, such as speech and language, emotional and autism.
I graduated with BA(hons) in Primary Education from Durham University.
I am a Mathematics and Biology tutor located in Dundee, Scotland and I have been tutoring students between the ages of 12 and 18 for over 2 years now. No query is too small and I will be happy to help with any past paper questions, worksheets and walkthroughs from secondary to degree level.
I chose to study Mathematics at A-Level and then univeristy not out of some deep love for the subject, but simply because it was fun and challenging. It is problem solving to the extreme which requires grit and optimism. Far from being the stereotypical maths student, I enjoyed music (I played in a band during university), surfing and mountaineering. Having a wide interest base gives me life experience that means I am approachable and able to relate easily to people.
In sixth form I tutored a Year 9 pupil heading into GCSEs who lacked confidence when it came to Maths. Over the proceeding months we focussed on areas of struggle and building confidence. She passed her GCSEs and is now happily studying in univeristy. This lead to me teaching GCSE level Maths in Tuscany, Italy, over a month during my second year at Cardiff University. This was a unique and rewarding experience, with a fair share of communication challenges due to teaching in what was for some students their second or third langauge! However, I was commended on my communication skills and positive nature.
After completing univeristy in June 2020, I worked various jobs while preparing for Royal Marines training. I began Recruit Training early 2022. Ultimately I was unsuccesful during training but am now happily studying a MSc in Economics at Durham Univeristy. My name is Anisa and I'm a Mathematics undergraduate student at Durham University. Once an intimidated student who grimaced at the subject, I've learnt ways to approach mathematics that allow me to appreciate the logic behind it. Maths doesn't have to be the 'difficult subject' and I'm here to show you and your child that.
My journey in tutoring mathematics has been nothing short of diverse. As someone who wants to share the joy from problem solving and who relishes in seeing their students thrive, there has never been a point in my life where I haven't been involved in tutoring of some form. I am a hardworking and dedicated science teacher with a passion for education. I am particularly proud of my work with my BTEC level 3 students and being a part of their journey onto higher education, which represented a significant proportion of my time in my previous role. My other achievements include my responsibility to lead physics within my department.
