I am a Qualified Teacher, working at a Grammar school in Aylesbury and I have recently been appointed as an examiner for Edexcel A-Level Mathematics.I am very passionate about my subject and I have a different approach to teaching including more practical ways which engage pupils and enhance their understanding as the new curriculum requires pupils to have a deeper understanding to be able to solve problems.
I believe that every pupil can learn mathematics and I work hard to achieve that, especially with pupils who want to learn and succeed.
Although I work in Grammar schools, I have 6 years of private tuition experience with pupils who need more support and with high-achievers.

I am passionate about teaching and education, and have recently achieved a Masters with Distinction in Teaching and Learning from University of Herts, as well as completing a Primary Education degree in 2013. I lead Primary English and am in my eighth year of teaching, currently with Year 5/6.

I have a very good knowledge of the primary curriculum and expectations for each Key Stage. Being the English lead at school means I also have a good knowledge of teaching phonics and reading/writing across the age groups, however I am also extremely confident in teaching Maths. I can be flexible in teaching either primary aged children or those in their beginning years of secondary school.
Due to my experience, I am confident in teaching and supporting children with a range of abilities and needs, as well as across a range of topics. Building a positive relationship with your child is key to me helping them develop a mindset and attitude to their learning which helps them make progress and feel confident.
Outside of teaching I love long walks (especially with my cheeky cockapoo puppy!), cooking, reading, yoga, macrame and socialising. I live in Hitchin and teach in Welwyn Garden City - I would be willing to travel around these two areas.

Hello and welcome to Connect Maths Tutor. I am Viviane D. and a qualified Secondary Maths teacher of 14 years. I have considerable experience in supporting students across KS3 and preparing students to sit KS4 Maths GCSE 9-1 specification Higher/foundation.
Having acquired substantial experience of working with a significant range of students and abilities, I understand fully the barriers to learning in Maths. I can therefore advise on areas where common misconceptions occur, showing alternative methods to answer popular topics and advise on exam techniques.
I now tutor one to one with students in order that I can make a real difference to their confidence and performance in Maths. At times this can be difficult to achieve in a classroom environment. My tutoring style is both structured, relaxed and supportive. I will establish early on a student's individual proficiency so that they are educated at an adapted and bespoke level.

I qualified as a teacher in 1993. I have a range of experience in the Primary age range including SEN. I have taught in The Channel Islands, London, Suffolk and Bedfordshire. I gave up full time class teaching some years ago and I now concentrate upon private tutoring. Formerly a Deputy Head Teacher in a Special School. I tutor mainly in Eglish and Mathematics at all year groups in Primary Education, but sometimes older pupils who need a boost in English and Maths. I enjoy working creatively with children and I am aware of the different mind friendly learning techniques that can be used to facilitate effective learning. I completed my PGDE with Teach First, being part of a team deep-dived during two Ofsted inspections, achieving outstanding both times. I have experience at KS3, including curriculum design, teaching KS4 for Elizabeth, Nazi Germany, Medicine, and the Cold War, and examining for Edexcel on the Nazi Germany paper. I began tutoring GCSE maths students struggling to achieve a pass grade, later tutoring & mentoring for EPQs, UCAS & volunteering. I have experience with SEND and EAL, recently completing a Level 2 SEND certificate. My university studies have provided a breadth of knowledge in the social sciences, including in politics, economics, philosophy, anthropology and sociology. I am a quick learner and have experience of decoding an exam mark scheme and curriculum of work and would quickly cater and adapt my teaching to suit the students needs.
I have a warm demeanor and want to support the student find their way to their most advanced level and critically engage with what they are learning. I provide and signpost students towards the resources and knowledge required to achieve their goals. This involves writing detailed lesson plans and providing reading lists, depending on the topics being studied, as well as asking students to do some work between sessions.
I am a very dynamic and flexible tutor, who can adapt to the learning style of the student. Whether that is more conversation driven or written responses and guided marking, I have been trained in a number of pedagogical skills to ensure students retain knowledge and deepen their explanatory power when using this knowledge.
This includes engaging in differentiated teaching and supporting students to overcome specific barriers to their learning, whether that is around self-esteem towards the subject and learning behaviours, or specific learning difficulties and particular barriers because of this. Both these challenges can be addressed with high quality teaching, an approach that insists on facilitating a high success rate, building on and consolidating previously learned knowledge, and testing for understanding and retention of this over time, with fading support to enable independence.
