Hello and welcome to Mr S. Maths!
I teach solely GCSE Maths. I've been teaching and tutoring Maths now for 10 years!
I own Mr S. Maths and I have a unique way I love to teach and tutor. Here's how it works
Step #1] Pre lesson videos. I record prelesson videos the prepare the students for the lesson. This is to get them up to the standard of our live lesson
Step #2] Weekly live lessons. I teach weekly live classes. I have lessons for foundation, for higher (grades 567) and for higher (grades 789). Each class focuses on a topic of the week going over as many exam questions as we can fit in!
Step #3] Weekly test. You will attempt a 10 mark test following the lesson.
Step #4] You will watch the video walkthrough of the test. This will allow you to mark and correct any mistakes
Step #5] You will log your scores to your personal log (that I provide) and this will now become your revision guide!
During last more than 10 years I have first hand teaching experience in the University in the UK and Canada. I have PhD in Aerospace engineering and had worked before at Pratt and Whitney Canada which is an aircraft engine manufacturer. Also, I have strong experience on online tutoring on engineering subjects, physics and maths. I can confidently explain mathematical and scientific principles and concepts using diagram and formula on digital white boards. I was also qualified by the Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education Teaching (PGCE). And, I am a Chartered Engineer (CEng) as a member of Institution of Mechanical Engineer (IMechE) in the UK. I have been teaching Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Dynamics, Heat Transfer in undergraduate degree program as well as Physics, Maths and Enigineering Science in Foundation program. Thus, I have both teaching experience as well as practical experience. From my strong experience I am confident on my teaching approach and able to understand well various students thoughts and needs.

I specialise in working with students on a 1-on-1 basis, easing and tackling individual areas of difficulty at their appropriate pace – something that can be difficult to receive in the standard school environment. My teaching approach is adaptive upon students’ own learning attitude, thus, presenting resources in various ways. It is focused on fostering a comprehensive understanding of the fundamentals of a topic, before applying that knowledge to solving questionnaires. I also specially aid with exam preparation to share my own unique methods of working and exam techniques/tips. Ultimately, I aim to develop one’s self-esteem and perseverance to fulfil their own aspirations.
I have taught a wide age group from 5 to 24, which my past tutor sessions were based on creativity of my hobbies such as art, which always worked absolutely well since when I was a GCSE student.
I have many experiences working with children, especially with spending my work experience as an assistant in a primary school class, I was able to interact and deal with various situations to keep the children calm, focused and motivated. As a school tutor, I utilised my organisational skills to collect resources and investigated various methods of teaching to find the most efficient way to deliver difficult contents, suiting the students’ own learning attitude appropriately. I evolved my communication competency whilst discovering the students’ difficulty and preferred revision methods, also.
I am someone who has academically succeeded highly through UK national curriculum. I have passion towards mathematics thus, I have participated and have been awarded many times for UKMT, and moreover, for Chemistry and Physics Olympiad challenges as Gold and Bronze respectively. I held responsibility as a School Ambassador and School tutoring, volunteered to be a Reader Leader who helps those who struggle reading and understanding the story with success. I aid in writing model answers for GCSE & A-Level exam questions as well. Not only am I self-disciplined and persevered but I enjoy hobbies that are based on creativity: DIY craft and art, piano, dancing, sport, ballet, balancing my work and leisure. I hold a PhD from Imperial College London. have a strong academic track record and have led cutting-edge research teams in projects for multinational pharmaceutical and biotech companies including Unilever, GlaxoSmithKline, Zeneca, Novartis and others. I have published scientific research which has been cited over 2200 times in the peer-reviewed literature and I serve on the Editorial Boards of four reputable international scientific journals. I am fascinated by science and maths and I believe my genuine enthusiasm for the fields, combined with my working knowledge, based on years as an active researcher, is evident in my teaching.
I enjoy working with students of varying ages and abilities and take pride in encouraging students to reach their full potential. I am patient and understanding in my approach, which I will adapt to meet the strengths and needs of individual learners.
I have years of experience as a tenured university lecturer where I taught at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. I have supervised 8 PhD students to successful completion of their thesis. Having interviewed numerous UCAS candidates for degree places, I can also offer advice to hone your personal statement.
Tutoring Experience
Previous A'level results are: 100% A*-C, 85% A*-A, 8% B, 7% C. 100% of students got into their first choice universities and 31% achieved placed in medical school. These grades are representative of the results achieved in previous years. 2023 GCSE results were 100% grades 9-7 from students taking higher level papers and 100% grade 5 from students sitting the foundation level papers (the highest grade they could attain).
I have been a full-time tutor for the past eleven years and I am a past Vice-President of The Tutors' Association, the professional body for the tuition industry. I was elected into this position by members of the tutoring profession. I tutor as a full-time profession.
I am very familiar with all the major examination boards (AQA, OCR, EdExcel, IB, CIE), I have recent school-based teaching experience at secondary level and I am a current and very experienced biology examiner and question setter, which enables me to explain things from "the examiner's perspective"!
I have worked with children with special educational needs such as Asperger Syndrome, autism, ADHD, partial hearing and dyslexia. Having lived and worked abroad for a number of years, I also have experience of working with students for whom English is an additional language.
Tutoring Approach
I offer tuition either online or face-to-face at my home, where I have an area which is free from distractions and all my materials and resources are immediately available to make tuition as effective as possible.
I believe in taking a very individual approach to tutoring, adapting approaches and resources to fit the needs of the individual. Prior to commencing tuition we will agree tuition goals and I will work with these to develop a personalized scheme of learning. During tuition I will monitor student progress and keep records of this so that learning and attainment can be tracked and approaches can be continually adapted to meet the developing needs of the learner.
However, most importantly of all, I believe learning should be fun. I am friendly and approachable and I work hard to ensure students enjoy having tuition, which ultimately will maximize the progress they make.
I am a university student studying physics and love teaching maths and physics to students and explaining it in a way that makes sense to everyone. I believe that with the right teacher, everyone can learn maths at a high level.

I believe I have a strong educational background. I received 75% first class for biomedical sciences in UCL. Also, I am usually very interactive with students to build their problem-solving skills. I can personalise the teaching style to fit each student’s different learning style and pace of learning. I have tutored students (age 6-18) for 5 years for mainly maths, sciences and piano but I have tutored English before up to GCSE level. I have also helped A level students with their university admission for medicine/science courses + Oxbridge. I did remote teaching during the Covid pandemic thus I am comfortable and knowledgeable at using online platforms and I usually tutor with an iPad as well. I like taking new challenges. I always enjoyed taking new roles during study (such as Course Rep and student quality reviewer) and learning new skills (such as how to use photoshop, procreate and solidworks). Hence I believe I would take on the challenge well with my hardworking and positive attitude. I am also available immediately thus able to start the lesson as soon as possible.

In the interest of maintaining high-quality tuition, I much prefer to not have every lesson online, but instead using my online services as a method of continuity. I believe (and have witnessed!) that everybody learns differently, and effective teaching comes from incorporating these differences; so, I will provide an environment for learning that is completely malleable to my tutees` needs. Fundamentally though, mathematics requires both an understanding of a topic and sufficient practice, so each session will split the time between these two. I encourage my tutees to steer each session towards their needs (and interests) - for example, particular difficulties with one topic or more detailed explanations and applications of another - which will not only ensure that they maximise the efficiency of their learning but also will build their own confidence in their abilities.
