About the lesson: Relaxed environment tailored to your personal needs. Lessons vary between 30 mins and 1 hour and can be as long as 2 hours with the addition of theory. About Me:I grew up in Athens, Greece, I am a graduate of the Berklee College of Music (US) affiliate's, Philippos Nakas Conservatory, Modern Music department and I specialise in Rock, Metal and Fusion. In addition, I have more accreditation from RGT (Registry of Guitar Tutors) and BIMM (British and Irish Modern Music Institute), but I believe in a hands on approach. Last but not least, I have participated in many groups and toured the UK and Europe. I recently composed and released an album and I am currently writing new material. Outside of music, I value health and exercise and I am always looking for ways to challenge myself and grow as a person.
I'm a full time Musician and Tutor, who plays guitar and teaches music theory up to grade 8. I have roughly 10 years of teaching experience, and now mainly teach via Zoom at my home in Manchester. I teach from ages 10 and above.

Nathan has been playing Guitar and studying Music for over 15 years, from Primary School right through to the current day in University. Beginning just under a year ago, Nathan has thoroughly enjoyed passing on his enthusiasm and passion for Guitar and Music alike through tutoring. Nathan has several qualifications in Music, including GCSE, A Level and First Class honours in Musical Arts (BA) and, starting with a Masters, he hopes to add to these qualifications in the future. Nathan’s teaching style revolves around his students and therefore adapts to the different students he is teaching, considering their skill level, age and personality when approaching each lesson. Alongside teaching, Nathan is hugely passionate about playing in his Function Band, recording and mixing songs and of course listening to music almost none stop.
Nathan teaches Guitar from beginners to intermediate level players and teaches Music Theory up to grade 5 of all ages. Nathan’s lessons include breaking down the fundamentals of both guitar ad theory, from posture, fingering technique, scales, arpeggios, chords, rhythm, melody and anything else the student wishes to learn. He will teach any exam boards requested, preparing his students for their respective exams by breaking down each technical component previously mentioned with specific focus given to each section of the exam. Whether the student wishes to focus on melody, rhythm, chords or just playing their favourite band’s songs, he will devote all his energy to providing the required tutoring in helping his students fulfil these wishes, whilst enjoying themselves in the process.
Nathan will give his all to teaching as many genres as he possibly can, although has vast experience in classical and pop music, particularly Funk, Rock and Jazz. His first lesson with any student will be relaxed, with the aim of figuring out the students skill level and what they wish to achieve through their lessons. The student simply needs to let Nathan know their priorities in terms of what they wish to learn and their enthusiasm in achieving this. It is common for Nathan to prepare warm-up exercises for his students, such as stretching exercises for the wrists and hands, along with exercises to develop the technique of each hand, for example finger/plectrum exercises and chromatic scales.

I am a classical music enthusiast who always loves to share the joy, passion, and fun of playing the piano to others, while being open to other genres like jazz and pop. I have a deep understanding of classical music, knowledgeable about music history but particularly excellent at music theory.
I have graduated with an Upper 2nd class degree in Music, teaching piano and music theory in a flexible teaching style that adapts to individuals. As an accordionist, I have toured the world in my indie-folk band, performing at Glastonbury and writing a Top 40 Album. Whilst studying at The University of Manchester for my MusB Music degree, I specialised in classical piano performance, folk and contemporary accordion performance and composition.
Although I am classically trained, I also have a passion for folk music from around the world. This mixture of interest gives my lessons a rounded approach to music learning. In December 2018 I was awarded the Yiddish New York Scholarship for performance; this allowed me to travel to New York to perform in an international Klezmer festival with some of the best Klezmer musicians in the world.
I have lots of experience tutoring children between the ages of 5-13; my lessons are based around enjoyment as I believe learning should always be fun.
I have been teaching privately for over 20 years. In that time I have had hundreds of students, many of whom have taken multiple ABRSM exams, diplomas, music GCSE, A level and gone on to study music at university/college. I’ve also been involved in many school workshops, delivering music education to primary and secondary school students.
Beginner students all start in the same place, learning the fundamentals of music and piano. There is a big focus on rhythm during the early lessons. Once students have developed I allow them to choose their own path, whether it be classical or jazz, taking exams or not taking exams. I guide students in the direction that THEY want to follow.
At the core of teaching is understanding the music on a deeper level, not simply playing the written music.
