My name is Olivia, I am 30 years old and have 8+ years of teaching and tutoring children of all ages.
I am a qualified secondary teacher and have experience teaching children from 5+ to 18.
I specialise in KS2 Sats/Eleven plus, KS3 Humanities, GCSE History and Politics at A-Level.
As a committed, driven and passionate teacher and I tailor my lessons to individual needs, I am patient, approachable and flexible to the pupils and I have experience working with children from reception all the way to 18+ with a range of SEND in a range of Lancashire schools.
I have a Politics degree from a good university, 10 GCSE's A*-C and 3 A-Levels from Lancashire's leading independent school.
I work primarily with videos/visuals, workbooks, textbooks and power points, I encourage a lot of independent learning, reading and note making, researching information and critical thinking, with my assistance and my resources to the older years (16+) which also enables prep for university/further education. For GCSE and younger, I tailor power points and resources to the individuals needs. I believe I am a fun, engaging and adaptable teacher who can relate to children of all ages due to my experience.
If you are interested in home lessons, I provide the resources and work books to aid revision for SATS/11+ amongst other subjects.
GCSE History, Politics at A-Level and 11+ are my specialisms and i have worked closely with the EDEXCEL exam board for History and Politics, and I have some knowledge of AQA. I have also taught RE at KS3/GCSE and Geography at KS3. Working with all students is rewarding for me, I love being a teacher and seeing pupils flourish and reach their full potential.

Childcare and Early years, is an area of education that I am very enthusiastic about and I would like the opportunity to make learning for others as enjoyable and fulfilling as my own has been. As a teacher, it is my role to provide opportunities for all, regardless of ability, and to ensure that everyone has a positive experience. Throughout my time in education I have always had a passion for teaching this lead me to complete a BA Hons in Education Studies. Where in my first year I studied topics such as Historical and Contemporary issues and teaching and learning in the primary sector. In addition, the second year of my degree I went on to study Philosophy of Education this gave me great insight into the contributions of key philosophers to our understanding of education, ranging from classical thinkers such as Plato and Aristotle to contemporary ones including Paulo Freire and Richard Rorty. This was one of my favourite topics as I found all the different theories very interesting. Furthermore, I have also undertaken placement while successfully completing my PGCE at Bolton College, it was here which provided me with an invaluable insight into different teaching styles and assessment strategies. One of the modules I undertook while studying for my PGCE was promoting positive behaviour. I feel very passionate about this topic and find all the different theories behind it very interesting. I also used some of them in my teachings for example Lev Vygotsky believe we should support students learning by assessing their prior knowledge and then giving them tools to increase this knowledge. This is done by letting the student figure out how to use the tools, to encourage them to move on to the next level of learning. ‘What a child can do today with assistance, tomorrow she will be able to do by herself’ this quote was coined by Vygotsky himself and backs up his beliefs. It is my intention to combine my array of experiences with my ability to be a compassionate, enthusiastic and approachable tutor who will make a positive influence. I believe my academic achievements and experience to date will provide a solid foundation to build on and transfer my knowledge and skills into providing the finest learning environment. My own academic experiences have reinforced my belief in the great importance of education and also helped me develop a number of key skills and abilities which have enabled me to develop as a scholar and an individual. I am hardworking, determined, dedicated and feel that I can offer a substantial contribution to the competences required for the position.

I am a passionate teacher who is friendly and determined to help every one of my pupils achieve their very best. I have a track record in progressing pupils to where they need to get to. I have been a form tutor also which allowed me to take a more pastoral role and informed me of individual needs to aid learning. This allowed me to get to know pupils motivation and aspirations which gave me the opportunity to tailor my teaching in order to help pupils improve at a quicker rate. I love teaching and seeing pupils make that progression and seeing the potential they have in them.

Hello, I’m Holly.
I’m a 27 year old Primary School Teacher based in the Manchester borough.
I have been a Primary School Teacher for the past two years working in Year 1, 3 and 5. Before that, I was a Teaching Assistant for 5 years working from Year 4 to Year 6, including helping to prep for the Year 6 SATS.
Currently teaching in Year 1, we are prepping for the Phonics Screening test through Read, Write, Inc. we provide daily interventions for English, Maths and Phonics for my current class, as well as boosters to help the Year 6’s with their SATS exams.
I am a caring and respectful person who loves to see children thrive and teach their potential. As someone who struggled with some aspects of the curriculum growing up, I can adapt and tailor sessions to suit each individual child.
I believe in getting to know a child’s strength and areas for development is key in enhancing this further. Equally, this will allow me to adapt approaches to ensure children understand.
I have a bank of resources - printed, online and concretes that would be accessible for the children to use during a session. I could also provide resources for nursery and pre-school aged children if any parents would like to attend the sessions with their child and need distracting and support with additional children.
