I am a well qualified and experienced teacher of Modern Foreign & Classical Languages with over 30 years experience teaching in local State and Independent Schools and in adult and further education colleges. I have taught French, German, Spanish, Italian, Classics and Latin from Key Stage 3 through to A- Level and am a GCSE examiner for the Pearson Edexcel exam board. I am a Member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists.
In my lessons, my goal is to teach you, with fun, humour and encouragement, how to use language confidently in listening, speaking, reading and writing and of course backing this up with a very sound knowledge of those building blocks called grammar. In Latin, the grammar based language study is backed up with a fun and detailed look at the historical period and the set texts. We all have differing learning needs and goals which are worked out well in advance of the first lesson so that the approach is tailor made for you so that you ultimately find the learning experience a rewarding and enjoyable one. When teaching , I use my experience of being an examiner to show you what the exam paper is really asking for and how you can ensure you get the marks and ,quite easily, exceed target. Just ask any of my former pupils! I am very friendly, patient and approachable, always encouraging with a strong belief that bit by bit you will succeed in whichever goal you have made for yourself?

I studied for degrees in Mathematics at Keele University and Oxford University and have over 35 years teaching experience in Private Schools, Grammar Schools and Colleges.

I enjoy making lessons creative and with real life contexts so that the children can see the purpose for their learning ready for when they enter the adult world. Hi, my name is Freya and I am 18 years old. I am currently studying a Bachelor's degree in Marine Biology with Oceanography. I received a Grade 8 in GCSE biology and an A* throughout A-Level biology. I also received a Grade 9 in GCSE mathematics and an A in A-Level maths. I am very confident in these two subjects and would be delighted to welcome any new students. In recent years there has been a huge growth in the number of agencies offering maths tuition at very competitive rates. Many tutors are university students or recent graduates and in need of some extra cash. They may have excellent subject knowledge and exam technique but equally important is whether they are able to communicate that knowledge to younger students.

I'm enthusiastic about science and have a specific interest in Astrophysics. I have a PhD in Physics and Astronomy from the University of Southampton.
To fund my PhD, I received a Mayflower scholarship, which required me to teach 25% of my time there. I assisted teaching of several different courses ranging from first to fourth year physics including maths, laboratories, electromagnetism etc.
I also helped to mark problem sheets, exams, course work as well as presentations. Moreover, I was a tutor and had regular tutorials with my tutees. I guided them academically whilst also making sure that they were settling in well into university life.
As part of my teaching experience at university, I have taught students with a range of abilities and from different cultural backgrounds, including non-native speakers.
I am experienced online tutor in Maths and Science. Sessions are held via Zoom and I use a writing tablet to go through ideas, concepts and calculations. I always adapt the content of my sessions to suit the different exam boards and curricula.

I'm friendly and personable and aim to put every student at ease because learning shouldn't be stressful. I first worked for the EARN association located in Paris as a programmer. Then I became the head of an internet service provider doing all the necessary work to keep it going. Programming, managing, etc. I managed databases, web sites, etc. I still do in fact!
