I have over 10 years experience in education. I am currently a primary school teacher and a Literacy Leader. I have taught in Year 6 for years and have a wealth of experience in preparing children for their SATs in KS2 and KS1. I am creative and ensure that my approaches are suitable for all. I am very sociable and enjoy meeting new people. On many occasions, my bilingual speaking skills have been of great benefit.

Hello, My name is Katy and I'm a qualified Primary School teacher with a current DBS. I've experience teaching Years 3-6 and teaching children with a range of special educational needs and disabilities. Lockdown has been difficult for all of our children and I'd like to support your child and fill any gaps they may have. I would help your child become a confident and independent learner. I've lead online sessions throughout the first lockdown. These included whole class lessons and small group targeted Phonics and Maths interventions.
I am available for English, maths, science, history, geography, art and Spanish/ French tutoring sessions at a primary level. Since studying French with English Literature at The University of Surrey, I have been helping my students learn both French and English via Zoom. I am proud to say that they have been scoring highly in both written and oral tests.
After working for language schools in Rennes such as Institut-Mondia-Langues and Les Petits Bilingues, I have begun teaching group classes of both primary and secondary-aged students in addition to one-to-one tutorials. My tutorials are well prepared, structured, and adapted to your child/ren’s learning style/s. The first Zoom call is an opportunity to discuss their learning objectives; these might be goals such as developing their spoken language skills in French/English, or something more specific such as providing additional support for students with dyslexia.
Whatever your child’s learning needs may be, they will be given a structured learning plan targeting the aspects that they would like to work on (speaking, listening, writing, vocabulary, grammar etc).
In my classes, students benefit from language acquisition as well as learning, which is essentially the process of identifying sounds > associating those sounds with meaning > imitating the sounds to convey meaning.
This process takes practice, so I focus on overcoming obstacles that might inhibit fluency in speech or coherency in writing. For example, many of my students struggle with spoken expression at first due to a lack of confidence. To help with this, I create an interactive learning space where students feel comfortable making mistakes, empowering them to make progress.
Homework and in-class activities are used to target the areas where your child/ren may face difficulties, which we then work through together in class.

Hello and welcome to my tutoring profile. To give context, I was a Teaching Assistant for 15 years and worked across all areas of primary levels from Nursery up to year 6. I finished my career being the leading Teaching Assistant in neurodiverse children as I have a passion for all children to have the education they deserve. I am an extremely caring, empathetic person with a passion for children’s education.
I planned, delivered and evaluated focus groups on a daily basis, often with the purpose to encourage cooperative engagement with other pupils. In addition, I had key children, who I would track their journey, in order to ensure they were meeting the key markers set out in the curriculum.
I would liaise with parents/carers on a daily basis. I created exciting multi-sensory environments which inspired and aided classroom learning.
I’ve worked alongside a variety of teachers when working in years 4,5 & 6 which allowed me to familiarise myself with the KS2 curriculum. I have 5 years’ experience working in Year 6 giving me a wealth of understanding of preparation for SATS, with children across all abilities.
In addition, I ran the school choir and school eco group. With the choir they would perform in assemblies, nursing homes and the local community. The eco group tended an allotment alongside people in the community as well as projects of planting using recycled materials around the school.

I worked in research and teaching roles within UK universities between 2004 and 2024 and am an Advance HE Fellow. My main areas of research and teaching expertise are in sociology and qualitative research methods. I am the author of four books, have published in a range of international peer reviewed journals and have chapters in various other books. I also have significant experience in peer-reviewing for academic journals.
