It was a long journey, from Sidmouth to Halifax via Singapore, Greece, Spain, Finland, Brunei, Abu Dhabi, Saudi Arabia and Libya. I have worked for the military (5 years), oil and gas industry (13 years), academic institutions (15 years) and other stuff including preparation for English GCSE, UCLES and IELTS exams (the missing years). I spent the last 12 years of my career working as an English lecturer at Tampere University in Finland. Whilst there, we had the time and opportunity to organise the thesis-writing courses online, so by the time Covid arrived and everyone went into the remote 'online teaching' mode, our courses and materials were already established and ongoing. Covid allowed us to tweak the methodology and presentation tools, so that I now have a tried and tested method for teaching academic writing online, which is what I now specialise in. I also offer a proofreading service using a similar approach, which is also very effective. So, if you have to write an English article or text, or if you want to generally improve your English writing and presentation skills, please get in touch. The first online lesson will be a GTKY session (free) during which we can get to know each other and set some parameters and targets for the course; much better than trying to explain it all in writing.
