Javier Torras Casas, born in Spain in 1990, lives and works between London and Barcelona. A graduate of MA Painting, University of the Arts London (2016), and MRes Fine Art, Royal College of Art (2019, Torras Casas is the recipient of the art grant given by the Institut Ramon Llull (2018). Residencies include Radical Residency, London, UK (2018); High House Working Residency, Norfolk, UK (2020) and Hold Residency. Recent group shows include Young Gods (2017) and Decreto 349 (2019), Charlie Smith London; Radical Residency (2018), Summer Show (2018) and Editions Exhibition (2019), Unit 1 Gallery|Workshop; Reachers (2019), Blyth Gallery; About Space (2016), Lewisham Arthouse; all in London but Leftovers (2017) at Prenzlauer Studio Space in Berlin. He has also delivered a number of talks and seminars such as Drawing Lines and Moving Marks as part of Practices of Enquiry at the University of the Arts London, a talk to artists in Brixton Studios and a workshop at the V&A on Reinventing architectures. Torras Casas’ work has been published in a number of publications: Artsy, Foci Magazine, Creative Boom, Material Driven, Diari de Sabadell, amongst others and it is held in private collections in Britain and abroad. |
