'My dyslexic daughter has been working with Sarah for the last 4 years. Sarah has changed her life. My daughter hated school and couldn't wait to leave. She was frustrated that her teachers didn't understand how to get the best out of her. She was really demotivated and it was affecting her mental health. Sarah immediately worked out she was bright and knew how to make her tick. Together they have laughed and cried until my daughter started to enjoy learning and look forward to seeing Sarah each week. Her grades started to improve and she sailed through GCSEs. Sarah has supported her, advocated for her at meetings at her school and become one of her chief cheerleaders. Sarah continues to support her through year 12 and my daughter has started to excel with her chosen subjects. 4 years on my daughter is considering which University to apply to and there is no talk of giving up school. If you have a dyslexic child who is struggling I would 100% recommend Sarah C.. She is magic.'
Founded in 2015 SC Tuition is the premier tutoring agency in West Sussex. From our base we work with you either online or face to face to provide an inspirational, supportive and friendly academic service tailored specifically to your family's aspirations and needs. "Our daughter was predicted to fail her English Language GCSE at Foundation Level and was told to not to bother with English Literature. With Sarah’s support our daughter managed to not only pass both but to also go on to pass English Literature at higher level for The International Baccalaureate. Sarah is patient, supportive and a brilliant teacher. We feel very lucky to have found her. She had a wonderful rapport with our daughter and indeed the whole family." (Mrs A. Horsham)

After achieving QTS in 1999, I taught in several primary schools for five years, covering all ages (from Nursery to Year 6) and a wide range of abilities (from working towards level 1 up to level 6), in the full range of core and foundation subjects. However, having a predominantly financial/ numerical background, I decided to focus my teaching on mathematics and commenced teaching mathematics in secondary schools from September 2004, covering a wide range of abilities from below NC level 3 to GCSE Higher level.
From May 2007 to August 2019, I was employed by Kip McGrath (Keighley), tutoring students (during evenings and on Saturdays) in Maths (aged 6 to 18 years, at KS1 level up to GCSE Higher level), English (aged 6 to 11 years, at KS1 &2) and in verbal and non-verbal reasoning, in preparation for 11+ High School Entrance Exams. This involved supporting students in small groups working on individual, predominantly computer-based, learning programmes, to enable them to catch-up or improve their skills in specific areas, whilst working towards their personal targets/ goals, e.g. in KS2 SATs, 11+ Entrance Exams or GCSE exams. This experience inspired me to set up my own private tutoring business, which I have been running since April 2014, providing tuition to individual students in maths (aged 7 – 18+), English (ages 7-13), preparing students (aged 9/12) for local High School Entrance Exams and preparing adult learners for Functional Skills exams in both Literacy and Numeracy.
Having studied many courses covering a wide range of disabilities, including ASD, Dyslexia, ADHD and Sensory Processing Disorder, I believe I have a good understanding of, and empathy for, students with SEND and SEMH. To this end, I have taught many students with a range of learning difficulties/ barriers to learning and feel that I have made a considerable difference to each student’s enjoyment of mathematics and life-outcomes. I believe that my own enjoyment of learning enables me to encourage and motivate others to successfully engage in the learning process.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, I have delivered many lessons via Skype and Zoom and feel that I have become confident and competent in using these platforms for teaching students remotely and would be happy to continue to do so if required.

I have over forty years' experience of private tuition to students aged 2 to adult. I have taught maths and English to all ages, including preparing students for entrance exams. I also teach science up to KS3. I have worked with those for whom English is not their first language, to help them improve their skills. I also have extensive experience of working with students with various kinds of special educational need such as autism, ADHD, delayed development, etc.
I take pride in creating a programme of work which addresses the needs of each individual and helps them to build their confidence as well as competence.
I usually work in my home but can also offer online sessions. As I am moving to a new area, I am currently only taking online students. This will change once I move.
I can offer small group tuition. Prices on application.

My passion for teaching is reflected in my long years of successful experience and student achievements. In addition, I have taught adults in tertiary education and ESOL learners, for example in migrant communities to integrate within British society. Hello, I'm Jess and welcome to my profile!
I am a full-time Primary Teacher with a mathematics specialism. When not in my classroom, I offer online lessons for all primary-aged children in subjects ranging from Maths, English and Science. I am down to earth and very approachable by both children and adults. I believe learning should be relatable, memorable and most importantly, fun. Each of my lessons build on each other to enable progression and sustained learning through different modes of teaching.
After just one year of tutoring I have produced a fantastic portfolio of reviews from past clients. Please see just a few below.
EK - "Jess adapts her style to suit the mood. This changes session by session and, by the end of the session, my daughter always has a huge smile on her face and sense of self accomplishment of what she's just achieved in her private session."
JH - "Jess is absoloutely fantastic with my son, she's quickly able to identify areas of focus and provide targetted support. It has been great to see James' confidence grow week on week."
I provide online tutoring with entails the use of a visualiser, visual manipulatives (maths) and online teacher resources to provide targeted support.
What would my first session look like? I often use the first session as a get to know you session along side a small 'quiz'. This is so there is mutual respect and tust between myself and the tutee as I beleive it is so crutial that children feel comfortable in asking questions about their learning without hesitation. This session also facilitates the next learning step for the subsequent lesson as gaps in understanding can be identified and targeted.
Each session lasts 45 minutes for £25

I am a passionate and experienced English tutor dedicated to helping individuals of all ages and backgrounds improve their language skills. With a deep love for the English language and a commitment to fostering a positive and effective learning environment, I take pride in empowering my students to achieve their language learning goals. My teaching philosophy is built on the belief that learning should be engaging, tailored to individual needs, and focused on practical application. I combine structured lessons with interactive and real-world scenarios to ensure that my students not only grasp the fundamentals of English but also develop the confidence to use the language effectively. I have strong communication skills and the ability to adapt teaching methods to suit diverse learning styles of students. I am fluent in Hindi as well so if any explanation is required to a native hindi speaker about concepts in English then I can help with that as well. My lessons are tailored to each student's unique needs and goals, creating a supportive and encouraging environment where questions and mistakes are welcomed as opportunities for growth.

It was a long journey, from Sidmouth to Halifax via Singapore, Greece, Spain, Finland, Brunei, Abu Dhabi, Saudi Arabia and Libya. I have worked for the military (5 years), oil and gas industry (13 years), academic institutions (15 years) and other stuff including preparation for English GCSE, UCLES and IELTS exams (the missing years). I spent the last 12 years of my career working as an English lecturer at Tampere University in Finland. Whilst there, we had the time and opportunity to organise the thesis-writing courses online, so by the time Covid arrived and everyone went into the remote 'online teaching' mode, our courses and materials were already established and ongoing. Covid allowed us to tweak the methodology and presentation tools, so that I now have a tried and tested method for teaching academic writing online, which is what I now specialise in. I also offer a proofreading service using a similar approach, which is also very effective.
So, if you have to write an English article or text, or if you want to generally improve your English writing and presentation skills, please get in touch. The first online lesson will be a GTKY session (free) during which we can get to know each other and set some parameters and targets for the course; much better than trying to explain it all in writing. If we find we are mutually compatible, then we'll set up a schedule and get started. I look forward to heaing from you.
