My name is Anisa and I'm a Mathematics undergraduate student at Durham University. Once an intimidated student who grimaced at the subject, I've learnt ways to approach mathematics that allow me to appreciate the logic behind it. Maths doesn't have to be the 'difficult subject' and I'm here to show you and your child that.
My journey in tutoring mathematics has been nothing short of diverse. As someone who wants to share the joy from problem solving and who relishes in seeing their students thrive, there has never been a point in my life where I haven't been involved in tutoring of some form. From the age of 16, through volunteering opportunities and work, I’ve tutored in all sorts of environments - from after school classes and targeted group work to online one-to-one tutoring. My teaching style centres around seamless integration between the classroom and tuition. A core belief of mine is that tutoring can only be as effective as it's organisation, so I go the extra mile to understand what is missing in students' education through communication with their Maths teachers. This has been a tried and proven fact and it guarantees that what students learn outside of school hours perfectly aligns with classroom teaching, which boosts progress by up to 5 months! Furthermore, I love to involve themes of encouragement and independent thinking by carefully crafting questions that allow students to arrive at their own conclusions; this preserves the learning of concepts to ensure they are well consolidated rather than memorised and repeated.

I'm currently an undergrad at Newcastle University, studying the Classics. My passion is for Doctor Who and almost anything to do with classic sci-fi and horror. I'm autistic, diagnosed since the age of 14, and so I have many experiences with other autistics and I frequently helped out with the Special Educational Needs department at my high school/sixth form. I'm a published author of horror short stories, as well as having featured on panels at FantasyCon and SciFi Weekend, with more stuff in the works. My subjects at A-Level were English Lit. (AQA), Theatre Studies (Edexcel), and Religious Studies (OCR). My high school had an internal mentoring scheme, where I helped 2 GCSE students with their English, the skills for which help with Latin and Greek immensely. For Ancient Greek, I taught a GCSE student from scratch for about 2 years, and as such created resources from scratch and would adjust my lessons on a weekly basis. For Latin, I helped the same student on a regular basis with their Latin, but at A-Level I was also asked by my Head of Classics to help the Y8s who'd joined late in the term by taking them out of lessons and catching them up on thr basic Latin skills they'd have missed. At university, I mentored 5 different students in GCSE English literature on a weekly basis, across a wide variety of texts. Additionally, my love for Classical languages and English extended to me doing JACT's Durham Summer School between L6 and U6. That, apart from being an enjoyable time in itself and which is highly recommendable, exposed me to a lot of different teaching styles, and gave me great in-depth knowledge of the languages and the culture.

I am a Maths and Physics enthusiast with an aptitude in essay based subjects as well ,specifically economics. I am currently an undergraduate at Imperial College for Aeronautical Engineering and am happy to teach all abilities up to GCSE. From my tutoring background I have developed a calm and reasoned approach to mentoring. I have tutored maths online via a text-based mentoring app where we used whiteboards an to guide students . As a violinist of 9 years I have also tutored experienced players during my last 4 years of school. Overall I can draw from my experience to ensure sessions are engaging yet effective. I teach GCSE Economics, Maths and Physics and am proficient in all types of question, from exam to a more problem solving type. Using the specification I can tailor any material taught to the student’s needs, maintaining precision in key concepts. I prefer a two-way dialogue when teaching as I believe this is the best way to learn.For Economics I have strong knowledge of key diagrams and theories, as well as the ability to discuss extended chains of analysis . I am an experienced academic passionate about inspiring individuals to aim high. I have assisted multiple students and early career academics to acheive their goals. I worked in research and teaching roles within UK universities between 2004 and 2024 and am an Advance HE Fellow. My main areas of research and teaching expertise are in sociology and qualitative research methods. I am the author of four books, have published in a range of international peer reviewed journals and have chapters in various other books. I also have significant experience in peer-reviewing for academic journals.
I have taught social sciences, sport & exercise and health-related science students in sociology and history of sport-related modules as well as research methods, study skills and dissertation modules. During my time working as an academic for over 20 years I have gained valuable skills and experience that enabled me to start my own freelance private tutoring, research and higher education consultancy business 'G. Academic' in 2023. I offer private tutoring to university students at all levels as well as training, mentoring and coaching to those new to research. In addition, I offer 'go to university' and 'transitions' talks to year 11, FE college and sixth form students. I am also available for external examining and guest lecturing, including study skills and research methods lectures, seminars or workshops. Following completion of A-Levels in History, English Literature and Health and Social Care, I began my career in education through obtaining a degree in primary education, specialising in the arts and humanities. I have taught children ranging from 4-11 in addition to gaining experience in EAL, SEN and training in BR@P and Prevent. I have further experience as a nursery nurse and a childminders assistant focusing on preparing early years children for school. Throughout this time, I have developed a child-centred approach to teaching by observing the child and tailoring to their individual needs based on personality, learning style and level.
I am an academic by profession and I have been a personal tutor for 8 years on various website including online and in person. My goal is to share my knowledge with people of all age groups who are interested in learning a foreign language and humanities subjects either for personal exams or just for fun. I also aim to make my lessons as enjoyable as possible not just for the sake of breaking the "monotony" of classroom style teaching, but also because I want to engage with my tutees in order to help them achieve their best results in the most efficient way possible. Accounting is the way of life, no matter what you do in life or where you work, you will always be surrounded by numbers and finance. I believe that it is important for you as individual to fully understand the accounting concepts as detailed in the AAT qualification. I understand that it may be daunting at first but with the right level of help and the right attitude to learning you will get there.
I completed my own AAT journey not that long ago whilst working for a busy accounts department in the legal sector whilst also gaining experience doing some accounts for a couple of different charities. Thus, I have the experience to be able to provide some context and real-life examples behind the different AAT principles helping you to further understand these.
