Hi! My name is Tom and I will be graduating from Durham University in June 2020 with an MMath (Hons) Mathematics, where I am predicted a first class. During my school years, I received 12A*s in my GCSE exams, as well as two A*s in maths and further maths at A Level, receiving full UMS in all but one of my final year exams. At Durham I have focused on pure mathematics, studying Algebraic Topology, Riemannian Geometry, Representation Theory and much more. In addition I received the John Crowther prize for performance in third year exams. I have experience teaching GCSE and A Level maths to students from a variety of backgrounds, this has mainly been on a 1-1 basis. I am a firm believer in problem based learning for maths. Most of our sessions will involve working through problems together. In addition, I will set weekly homework (not too long, don't worry!) to aid in the learning. I will mark these before the next session and we will discuss any problems together. In addition, after each session I will produce a short summary of our session, pointing out key facts and problems that the student should be aware of and need to focus on. |
