Hello and welcome to my tutoring profile. To give context, I was a Teaching Assistant for 15 years and worked across all areas of primary levels from Nursery up to year 6. I finished my career being the leading Teaching Assistant in neurodiverse children as I have a passion for all children to have the education they deserve. I am an extremely caring, empathetic person with a passion for children’s education.
I planned, delivered and evaluated focus groups on a daily basis, often with the purpose to encourage cooperative engagement with other pupils. In addition, I had key children, who I would track their journey, in order to ensure they were meeting the key markers set out in the curriculum.
I would liaise with parents/carers on a daily basis. I created exciting multi-sensory environments which inspired and aided classroom learning.
I’ve worked alongside a variety of teachers when working in years 4,5 & 6 which allowed me to familiarise myself with the KS2 curriculum. I have 5 years’ experience working in Year 6 giving me a wealth of understanding of preparation for SATS, with children across all abilities.
In addition, I ran the school choir and school eco group. With the choir they would perform in assemblies, nursing homes and the local community. The eco group tended an allotment alongside people in the community as well as projects of planting using recycled materials around the school.
I believe children’s education should be an all-rounded experience and we should invest in them wholly and wisely as they are our future generation.
My approach to tutoring is tailored to the individual needs of each student. I understand that every student has a unique learning style and pace, and I work to create a supportive and encouraging environment that fosters growth and development. I am patient, empathetic, and dedicated to helping students overcome challenges and build confidence in their abilities. With extensive experience in tutoring for SATS, GCSE, A-Level and entrance exams such as 7+, 11+, and 13+, I have a deep understanding of the skills and knowledge required for success in these exams. I am skilled at identifying areas of weakness and developing strategies to overcome them, and I work closely with students and their families to create a personalised plan for success. Whether students need help with specific subjects or are looking for more general support and guidance, I am here to help. My goal as a tutor is to empower students to reach their full potential, both academically and personally. I am excited to work with students of all ages and backgrounds, and I am committed to providing the highest quality of education and support possible.

I teach classical styles, as well as music theatre, jazz, folk, pop/rock.

I was a police officer for 26 years and spent the final 7 years of my service as a trainer. I subsequently took a CELTA course and earned the qualification to teach English as a Foreign Language. I have taught at a number of Summer and Easter schools in the UK, and undertaken short contracts at language schools in Vietnam and Mexico.
During the COVID 19 lockdown I volunteered as an online teacher for the school in Vietnam, giving them one 90 minute lesson a week from home using Microsoft Teams.
I have also tutored several adults on a one-to-one basis and will always adapt both the content and style of lesson to suit the needs of the learner. A british citizen by descent, I was raised in Swaziland (Eswatini), a small country in Southern Africa and have had the privilege of being educated in multiple countres.
